Economic Impact: Saudi Minister Urges Stability Amid West Bank Tensions

In a call for heightened international involvement, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized the need for stronger actions to hold Israeli settlers accountable for violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. Addressing an interfaith dialogue in Rome, Prince Faisal highlighted the urgency of halting these attacks immediately, warning that ongoing settlement expansion and violence pose significant threats to the viability of a two-state solution.

The minister welcomed steps already undertaken by various countries, which include imposing sanctions on individuals associated with severe human rights abuses, enforcing travel bans, and restricting imports from Israeli settlements. Prince Faisal underscored the necessity of these measures, advocating for greater accountability to safeguard Palestinian rights and foster a sustainable peace.

Furthermore, Prince Faisal reiterated Saudi Arabia’s steadfast opposition to any alterations to the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and its sacred sites. He stressed the pivotal role of diplomacy and international collaboration in advancing a comprehensive peace process.

The Saudi foreign minister’s remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region, where the cycle of violence and settlement activities continues to obstruct peace efforts. By urging for international intervention, Prince Faisal aims to galvanize global support for a just resolution that ensures the protection of Palestinian rights and the realization of a long-term peace.
