Saudi Arabia and South Korea have strengthened their resolve to collaborate more extensively in the realms of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and technology investments, following a series of high-level discussions in Seoul. The meetings were spearheaded by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Al-Swaha, who was joined by Haytham Al-Ohali, the Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission. Together, they engaged with senior South Korean officials to explore avenues for cooperation in AI, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure with the aim of fostering innovation, bolstering the digital economy, and advancing Saudi Arabia’s goal of becoming an international leader in artificial intelligence.
During the talks, the Saudi delegation also focused on enhancing digital government services, emphasizing the importance of unified government platforms, digital identity systems, and the application of AI to improve public services. This initiative included discussions on potential collaboration between Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority and South Korea’s Ministry of the Interior, aiming to create more streamlined and efficient digital services.
In another significant move, Al-Swaha met with the founder and CEO of APL Ventures. These discussions revolved around investment prospects, support for Saudi startups, and strategies to enhance their footprint in global markets, thereby encouraging technology investment within the Kingdom. This aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to attract high-value investments and boost the development of a digital economy driven by artificial intelligence.
This visit to South Korea is a crucial part of Saudi Arabia’s overarching plan to forge strong global technology partnerships.
