Regional Powers Back US-Iran Talks, Boosting Economic Prospects in Middle East.

In a concerted effort to ease regional tensions and foster diplomatic resolutions, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Türkiye convened in Cairo, expressing their unwavering support for the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran. Amidst this high-level assembly, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan came together under a four-country consultation mechanism to deliberate on pressing Middle Eastern issues.

During the meeting, the ministers took stock of recent developments throughout the Middle East, focusing on initiatives aimed at reducing regional tensions and bolstering diplomatic dialogue following the memorandum of understanding established between Washington and Tehran. The discussions also turned to Lebanon’s security situation, underscoring the necessity for continued coordination to avert further instability in the region.

In their collective statement, the four nations articulated robust support for the US-Iran negotiation process, asserting that successful dialogue could enhance regional security, foster stability, and mitigate conflicts across the area. They emphasized the significance of pursuing diplomatic avenues to resolve ongoing crises and called for heightened international collaboration to tackle regional challenges.

Following the meeting, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the attending ministers, lauding the increasing coordination among Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Türkiye. He described these nations as pivotal contributors to regional security and stressed the importance of backing the implementation of the US-Iran agreement to ensure the success of the negotiation process.
