Grokipedia: Musk’s Right-Wing Answer to Wikipedia Already Riddled with Errors

Elon Musk has unveiled his long-planned Wikipedia rival, Grokipedia. The new online encyclopedia is openly designed to reflect right-wing views, a move Musk justifies by lambasting Wikipedia and “mainstream media” for what he perceives as bias.
The platform’s core architecture is a significant departure from its rival. Grokipedia has no human authors or editors. Instead, all content is generated and “fact-checked” by Grok, Musk’s artificial intelligence program. This has raised immediate concerns about accountability and the potential for systemic bias.
These concerns appear justified, as early users and journalists have found the entries hew closely to conservative ideology. The article on the January 6 Capitol riot, for example, gives weight to the disproven lie that “widespread claims of voting irregularities” plagued the 2020 election.
The Grokipedia entry also downplays the violence and Donald Trump’s role, stating the events “fueled enduring disputes” and could be seen as a “legitimate expression of grievances.” This narrative directly contradicts extensive forensic evidence and congressional findings.
Furthermore, the AI-generated encyclopedia is already being flagged for spreading dangerous inaccuracies. Journalists have pointed to an entry that falsely claims pornography worsened the Aids epidemic. The project, suggested by Trump administration official David Sacks, is Musk’s latest move after a temporary role in Trump’s second presidency.
